Wild Sweep The Doubleheader Against Elite Softball


Saturday, June 19th: The Wild took both games of the doubleheader against Elite Softball on Saturday night at Rent One Park.

Elite softball would strike first in game one of the double-header in the first inning on an RBI single from Charla Echols, giving Elite Softball an early 1-0 lead.

The Wild would respond quickly in the home half of the inning with an RBI groundout from Kelsey Harshman, tying the game at 1-1.

The game would remain tied until the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Wild would take the lead on an RBI single by Larissa Franklin, making it 2-1. Elite Softball would get the lead right back, getting two runs on five straight hits in the top of the fifth inning against Jenna Caira, giving them a 3-2 lead over the Wild.

After Elite Softball would walk the first two Wild batters in the bottom of the fifth inning, Jennifer Salling would clear the bases with a three-run homerun to right field. Emma Entzminger would later score in the inning on a passed ball, which would be the final run of game one, giving the Wild a 6-3 game one win.

Salling would start the scoring in game two of the doubleheader with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning, giving the Wild a 1-0 lead after two innings of play.

Wild would add to that lead in the next inning, this time with an RBI single by Kaleigh Rafter, extending the Wild lead to 2-0.

Elite Softball would find the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning, scoring a run on a passed ball from Lauren Regula, making the score 2-1, Wild.

The Wild would add four more runs in the sixth inning, one on an RBI single from Salling, two on a throwing error from Elite Softball's defense, and the other on an RBI sacrifice fly from Victoria Hayward. The four runs were enough for the Wild to go on and win game two over Elite Softball, 6-2, sweeping the doubleheader.

The Wild finish their eleven-game stint at Rent One Park, 8-2-1.
